hot stones

Last weekend we have been to the mighty crack climbing area of Ettringen/Germany. Together with Marieke I spent 3 excellent days of climbing and camping.

Last year the geoquest publisher released a second edition of the topo book. The first version from 2006 described about 700 routes. The new release covers 1400 routes with some completly  new areas like Toms Lay and Lonnenloch.

I really can recommend that guide book, have a look at http://www.geoquest-verlag.de/?q=taxonomy/term/331 for more info. It is also very important to follow all rules and restrictions related to tope rope stuff and also potential closing of climbing areas due to activity of the bubo bubo a.k.a. eagle owl (http://www.klettern-ettringen.de/index.php?rgt=[TkVVU1RFSU5GTw==] .....).

We had two nice days at the Lonnenloch with some good sportclimbing like J.P. (VII) and Klimax (VI). There is also a really nice trad route called "Sternschnuppe" (V). cool climbing and good protection.

The third day we went to Kottenheim and visited the famous cracks of the Arena. Hard workouts on hand and fingercracks with routes like Lauras Stern (V), Jack Ass (VI) and some newer routes.
